Within the city, LOU offers a place for living, working, and leisure, bringing these functions together in a dynamic environment. Situated in a dense urban block, the project seeks a new balance by reducing hard surfaces, introducing more light, greenery, and water retention—ultimately creating a more vibrant living space—while carefully redefining the built volumes.

The program includes a neighborhood police station, a liaison office, and residential units. At the heart of the project lies the garden—a shared space for gathering, working, and relaxing. The outdoor area is designed with minimal hard surfaces, maximizing greenery as a collective asset. A garden pavilion, separated by a garden wall, divides the police station from the other functions. This pavilion follows the existing building’s structure, integrating subtly into its new context.

A key ambition is the restoration of the two stately townhouses. Their historical structures are carefully uncovered and reinterpreted, with new interventions designed in a complementary architectural language. The public functions of the police station and liaison office are housed within the former carriage entrances and adjacent salons, with a clear distinction between public and private circulation.

The residential units are located in a rooftop extension above the existing townhouses, discreetly blending into the urban fabric. Residents not only share a home but also valuable communal spaces: a green inner garden and a belvedere overlooking the city.
