Following the reorganisation of the National Bank's offices, a historical study was drawn up as a framework for the competition to be launched for the new headquarters. The aim of the study is to unravel the rich design history of the existing building and to map out the existing situation. On the basis of this survey, the valuable elements and structures will be mapped out, as well as the pain points and potential.

The analysis reveals the original ambitions of the various designers. This knowledge enables us to understand and valorise the existing amalgam of phases and styles.

A vision of the architectural and urban planning framework is then developed in collaboration with the client, the Heritage Unit and the Brussels Maitre Architecte. To support this vision, a volume study will open the urban development debate on the future implantation of the new volumes. This vision will be the framework for the competition to be launched at the end of 2020.
