This study frames the creation and evolution of the WTC I and II towers near the North Station in the context of the North Quarter in Brussels. The WTC towers were jointly conceived with the principles of the Manhattan plan. In order to understand the towers, it is therefore important to also explain the building history of the North Quarter. In order to place these links in the broader context of the urban development of Brussels, three timelines were drawn up; a timeline with the major infrastructure works in the city and the municipalities, a timeline in which the towers of Brussels are placed side by side and finally a timeline with the building history of the North Quarter itself. In the combination of the timelines the connections are explained. Then, as a kind of time document, the existing situation of the tower is mapped out.
